Brand identity is key to any business. It helps to convey what the business is all about – both in terms of products and values – to its clients and customers. Understanding the brand identity of your business is an essential part of having an effective communications and marketing strategy, being able to target your audience, knowing where to pitch yourself in the marketing and much more. Whether your selling products, services, lifestyles… or all of the these… getting to grips with your brand’s identity is a good move for any business.

Earlier this month we worked with the Business and IP Centre in Liverpool to design and deliver a workshop for new start-ups, sole traders and SME’s that covers the fundamentals of create a brand identity. As part of this interactive and practical based workshop, participants:

  • Explored audience and purpose and how these relate to branding
  • Gained knowledge about how brand identities are created
  • Practiced constructing a brand identity through visuals and voice

The core task of the workshop involved participants working in small groups to create the basis of a brand identity for a new business by designing a basic logo and identify the core values of the brand and how they will be communicated.
